What happens when five young women, between the ages of 18-23, spend a year living semi primitively in the Oregon Cascade Mountains, applying skills like fire by friction, shelter building, finding edible and medicinal plants, tracking animals and practicing “sit spot” twice a day for introspection? In EARTH SEASONED: #GAP YEAR we follow Tori, along with Emma, Hannah, Maddee, and Thea, from their arrival on the mountain through all four seasons. Told mainly through the story of Tori Davis, a teenager with learning difficulties, the film chronicles the group's year in the woods as part of the Caretaker nature program. The documentary reveals how separately and together the girls learn ancient skills of craftsmanship and teamwork and forge deep powers of resilience and self-reliance. Earth Seasoned has essential messages about talent, compassion and community and about the real conditions for human flourishing. 75 minutes.
