Getting Virtual Little Feet WET Professional Development
Developed specifically for teachers working with young children (ages 3-6) in coordination with early childhood experts and educators, Getting Little Feet Wet is Project WET’s early childhood curriculum. Getting Little Feet Wet contains 11 interactive, hands-on activities for young learners to explore different aspects of water—from water properties to water sounds. Each activity offers both Pre-K and K-2 options and is correlated to respective educational standards and will focus on our changing climate. $15 fee includes Getting Little Feet WET curriculum guide, Water We Singing About CD, additional resources, a Fundana and ACT 48 and PQAS hours if applicable (or certificate of completion). Resources will be MAILED to participants after completing the workshop. We draw from experienced educators with diverse perspectives to help you hone your own approaches to nature-based ECE. Whether you are in a formal school or childcare setting or working in a nature or forest preschool, this course is designed to meet the needs of early childhood educators working in any setting. SCHEDULE Tuesdays: Facilitated discussions on key topics Wednesdays: Cohort meetings Thursdays: Guest presenters with Q&A There is a total of 24 hours direct learning through 6 consecutive weeks of online sessions with presenters and within small cohorts. Forest School Teacher Institute announces a new virtual training program for busy people. Topics include: how to become an effective forest school teacher, how to oversee a forest school program, how to start-up a forest school program, and how to advance your leadership skills in a forest school environment. All courses will be individualized and dig deeply into the roots of forest school — community, compassion, and holistic child development. Forest School Teacher Institute founder, Dr. Jean Lomino, along with a highly qualified and experienced team of Forest School teachers, founders and administrators from around the US and the world will lead the training. Jean is also co-founder and director of Wauhatchie School, the first forest school in the state of Tennessee. This year's inspiring, hands-on, and experiential professional development event will take place June 8 - 12 in beautiful Prescott, Arizona. Collaborate with a passionate and diverse group of early childhood educators during our 5-day early childhood educator Summer Institute.
The Summer Institute fee includes materials and resources, four nights of lodging on campus and two to three meals a day. As a part of the enrollment process, each participant will be asked to identify a nature- and place-based project they can develop during and after the Summer Institute.
This year’s Summer Institute participants will discover:
~ What nature- and place-based early childhood education is and why
it’s such a hot topic in ECE today.
~ Ways to align their current teaching practices with the pedagogy
of nature- and place-based learning.
~ How to plan nature- and place-based experiences for young children
that are developmentally and culturally appropriate, inclusive, and linked to
early learning standards.
~ Current advocacy efforts for increasing inclusive and equitable
access by all children to nature- and place-based learning.
~ Potential community resources and partnerships for increasing
inclusive and equitable access to natural environments for children and
families.
Participants will receive resources, year-long project development support from a Summer Institute Mentor, and a certificate for professional development hours.
