Dandelion Discoveries Nature School in Dubuque, Iowa, is a nature-based program for young children where learning unfolds outdoors through play, curiosity, and meaningful connection to place. Rooted in exploration, the school emphasizes social–emotional growth, creativity, and hands-on discovery in all seasons. Children spend the majority of their time outside, developing confidence, resilience, and a deep relationship with the natural world.

The core program, Nature Play Experience, serves children ages 3–5. Each day blends unstructured nature play, guided invitations to explore, storytelling, creativity, and opportunities for children to follow their interests. Educators use an emergent curriculum approach, allowing children’s questions, ideas, and observations to shape the learning journey.

Dandelion Discoveries also offers seasonal camps and special events, including a summer nature camp. These experiences provide additional opportunities for sensory exploration, risk-taking, collaboration, and place-based learning within a supportive, nurturing environment.
