Green Garden Childhood Development Center

Green Garden was founded by a single mom from Metro Detroit who wanted the absolute best early childhood experience for her son. More than a decade later, the same values still hold true. From our organic gardens and menu to our curious learning approach, Green Garden focuses on the individual needs of the whole child and family.

At all Green Garden locations, the HighScope curriculum is our curriculum of choice for all ages. The HighScope curriculum is widely celebrated throughout the world and is home-grown right here in our own backyard with the foundation located right in Ypsilanti, MI. Beginning with the Perry Preschool Study, the HighScope Curriculum “uses active learning and the plan-do-review process to achieve powerful, positive outcomes” for all children. HighScope is a research based curriculum model that empowers young thinkers to question their world and draw conclusions based on their experiences. Ongoing relationships with familiar caregivers, highly skilled in the art of scaffolding children’s learning, are essential for your child to thrive both in early learning and beyond.

We know based on experience that outdoor learning is crucial to a child’s development. Our natural playgrounds are a second classroom. We aim to be the foundation of nature exposure for students, immersing them in curricula that supports exploration. We even have a Nature Specialist on staff who is our point-person as far as being a nature-based program!
