Who We Are
The Nature-Based Higher Education Coalition promotes nature-based early childhood education as an integral part of teacher preparation and continuing education. The Coalition fosters collaboration among colleges and universities to strengthen professional development and support research and scholarship on nature-based early learning. We strive to enhance the quality and reach of nature-focused education for young children by equipping teachers and administrators to integrate outdoor, environmental experiences into daily practice.
Leadership
Leadership for the Coalition is comprised of a number of organizations and programs including:
- Antioch University MEd for Experienced Educators, Nature-Based Early Childhood Education Program
- Maine Early Childhood Outdoors
- University of Cincinnati Early Childhood Education Program
- University of Minnesota Childhood Nature Studies Program
- Florida Atlantic University Early Childhood Environmental Education Certificate Program
Who Should Join This Coalition
The Nature-Based Higher Education Coalition is open to universities, colleges, and institutions around the world offering early childhood education programs. More specifically, the Coalition is for faculty, researchers, and educators interested in advancing nature-based learning in teacher preparation and professional development programs. We also invite individuals interested in exploring or learning more about integrating nature-based topics into early childhood teacher education, as well as organizations or non-profits engaged in teacher preparation.
