On February 19, 2026, the Natural Start Alliance’s Conference and Communications Coordinator, Sydney Gary, attended the East Coast premiere of In Our Nature at the Miracle Theatre in Washington, D.C..
In Our Nature explores how environmental education—and the educators who lead it—can help heal some of today’s most pressing social, emotional, and political divides. Through stories of resilience and reconnection, the film highlights the transformative role that nature can play in education and why meaningful connections with the natural world belong at the heart of learning.
Following the screening, Sydney joined a panel discussion facilitated by long-time Natural Start advisor Sheila Williams-Ridge, contributing an early childhood perspective to the conversation. The discussion reflected on themes from the film and the role environmental education plays in supporting community well-being and healing.
Featuring three programs from across the country that use nature as a pathway for healing and connection, In Our Nature demonstrates the powerful impact of environmental education in building a more sustainable and equitable world. At Natural Start, we believe this work begins in early childhood. We are grateful for opportunities like this to share the value and impact of nature-based early learning within the broader environmental education movement.
