On October 25, 2025, the Black Educators Network joined administrators, advocates, and policy researchers from across the country in Atlanta, GA for the inaugural Seeds of Justice Convening, hosted by the National Black Child Development Institute at the Signia Hotel. The day-long gathering created space for participants to connect, reflect, and imagine a future where every Black child grows up in a safe, healthy environment—with access to clean air, clean water, and nature-rich learning experiences.

Through activities such as network mapping, imagination exercises, and tangible strategy sessions, participants explored ways to bridge the gap between current realities and an equitable, sustainable future.

A highlight of the day was a farm-to-table lunch enjoyed outdoors, where chefs personally introduced each dish, grounding the meal in community and connection to the land.

The convening closed with a collective commitment to ongoing collaboration, centering Black children’s wellbeing at the heart of environmental and educational justice efforts. The energy, ideas, and relationships sparked at Seeds of Justice will continue to grow as we build the bridge toward the future we envision—together.
